[December 5, 2021] EPC Sunday Sermon Reflection Questions

[December 5, 2021] EPC Sunday Sermon Reflection Questions

  1. It can be difficult to anticipate and look forward to things in our lives because of the sheer amount of different forces pulling us in different directions.  In the season of Advent, what does looking forward to the birth of Jesus look and feel like to you in terms of your priority, time, and intentional effort of receiving Jesus?
  2. John the Baptist calls those who believe in Jesus as the Messiah to “prepare the way” in the discipline of confession and repentance of our sins.  What place does the confession and repentance of your own sins before God have in the priority of your life, both during advent and in your daily faith walk?  Why is this important?
  3. Advent is not only a time to look forward to the birth of Jesus, but what His coming in the flesh means for our salvation and eternity.  As John baptizes with water, he reminds us that Jesus will baptize with the Holy Spirit that has consequences for our souls.  Do you place your hope more in earthly powers and standards (like the Pharisees & Sadducees) or do you look forward to and trust in Jesus as the One who saves, redeems, and restores you by His grace?
  4. What stood out to you in today's message? Did you have any questions?
