The Gospel According to Esther
Speaker: Pastor Sam Lee
Esther 1:1
1. The book of Esther is unique in that it does not explicitly mention God. How does this absence affect our understanding of divine providence in the narrative? What does this suggest about how God might be working in situations where His presence is not immediately obvious? How can this perspective be applied to our own experiences where we may feel God’s presence is distant?
2. The story of Esther demonstrates God’s faithfulness to His promises despite seemingly dire circumstances. How does understanding God's commitment to His promises in the story of Esther help us navigate our own doubts and challenges? How can we differentiate between true and false promises of God, and how does knowing the true promises shape our faith and actions?
3. The story of Esther draws a parallel between Esther's risk to save her people and Christ's ultimate sacrifice for humanity. In what ways does the story of Esther foreshadow the redemptive work of Christ, and how does understanding Christ as the ultimate fulfillment of God's covenant promises deepen our appreciation of both the Old Testament and New Testament narratives?
