Missional Church
Matthew 28:18-20

18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20

Discussion Questions
  1. Why do you think Jesus begins the Great Commission by establishing His authority? How does
recognizing His authority change the way we view and/or approach missions?
  2. What does it mean to you personally to "make disciples" as part of the Great Commission? In what ways
can discipleship go beyond just sharing the gospel?
  3. How do we balance the idea of "going" in the Great Commission with the reality that the mission field
can be right in our own neighborhoods or workplaces? Can you think of examples where you might be
called to “go” in your current context?
  4. Baptism is about entering into a relationship with God and the church community. How does this change
your view of evangelism and the commitment required? How can we, as a church, better walk alongside
those who are newly baptized and help them grow in their faith?
  5. How does the church’s role in baptizing and teaching reflect the relational nature of discipleship? How
can we as a church better support those who are newly baptized, ensuring their spiritual growth through
    teaching and community?
  6. How does the promise of Jesus’ presence ("I am with you always") empower you in fulfilling the Great
Commission? In what ways can we practically remind ourselves of His presence when we face challenges or feel inadequate in sharing the gospel?
